My Favorite Sources for Wall Art

Well I just finished updating my website and noticed this little tab called "blog" that had been sitting there for quit some time collecting dust.  I have gotten so busy with client projects that I have neglected posting.  I do love recording random thoughts and ideas even if they are just for myself.  In searching for wall decor for clients this week  I came across some great (new to me) sources.  To make it easier I decided to put together…

Get to know Your Designer: Part 3

Happy Monday everyone!  After a wet and soggy weekend in Maryland I'm back at it with the last part of this series: Get to Know Your Designer.  If you missed Get to Know Your Designer: Part 1 and Get to Know your Designer: Part 2 the main points I talk about in these two posts are the more recent events in my life that has shaped my design philosophy and style, and how this helps my clients.  Part 1 talks about how being…

Get to know Your Designer: Part 2

Happy Friday!  I'm going to delve into Part 2 of what I want potential clients to know about me.  If you didn't read Get to Know Your Designer: Part 1 the thing I talk about here is how I have had many experiences in Interior Design over the years but several things more recently have made me who I am as a designer.  You can check out Part 1 to see how becoming a mom has helped me be more attuned to what my clients…

Get to Know Your Designer: Part 1

Hi there, it has been awhile since I last posted here on the blog.  Christmas came and went, and then I had several jobs going at once so the past few months have been a little crazy. I decided to devote some time to writing because I want to share more about myself, my design philosophies, and my specialties.  I realize choosing a designer can be scary and intimidating.  The best way to mitigate that fear is to get to know your potential…

Ryan’s Case for Smiles

I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. My husband, children, and I traveled to Pennsylvania for five days. It's always a good time when my kids get to see their Mimi and cousins, and we get to visit family we don't get to see often enough. My husband and I both grew up in the same town where Mimi still lives so we like to reminisce about the good old days and tell our kids stories of our childhood. When…

My New Wall-to-Wall Dining Room Shelves

I finally finished my Dining Room shelves!  I've been thinking about doing this for months but was unsure how to go about it.     I first saw these at chris loves julia and loved the floating look.  When I say floating I just mean you can't see any brackets.  Obviously they are attached on either end which is how mine would be also but I didn't want to have traditional brackets.  (click on the source for a great tutorial)    source…

Computer Clean Out and Photo Organization

Hey Guys.  Nothing like a little jury duty to get me moving forward on the grueling task of cleaning out my computer.  Yesterday was my very first jury duty experience!  I can't believe I have dodged that bullet for so long.  I know that sounds terrible.  It is our civic duty and according to the judge yesterday "it is a privilege as well as an amazing experience" to serve on a jury.  I'm sure it is, but luckily for us we got released around…

How to Hang a Symmetrical Gallery Wall [Diagram]

Hey there.  I know I already posted a photo of my new gallery wall and my YouTube video but I wanted to make a quick reference with a diagram as well.  (Not everyone is into watching videos like I am!)   After making several mistakes and having to re-do the whole wall I figured out an easy way to make sure the spacing is perfect.   So here goes... Directions: 1.  Lay out your frames on the floor and figure out what spacing looks…

A Weight Has Been Lifted, My New Office Inspiration

Hi there.  Happy Monday!  I am still laughing this morning after going to see A Bad Moms Christmas last night with some friends.   If you are in the mood for something funny I recommend it.  It definitely exceeded our expectations.  I'm also feeling pretty relieved since I decided to abort a project that I've been planning pretty much since we have moved into our new home a year ago.  I wanted to share about this because I think sometimes it is easy to get so invested…

Adding Plexiglass to My Craft Table

I decided to put a piece of plexiglass on top of  my newly made over craft table to protect the surface.  Adding plexiglass or real glass to a table top or piece of furniture is a good way to protect the top from moisture or messes like paint and markers.  I don't always love the aesthetic but in certain situations it is better than worrying that a piece of furniture is going to get ruined.  Plexiglass comes in different thicknesses and sizes and…
